New York Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury picked the perfect time to club his first career grand slam on Friday night, pulling New York within three runs.
The shot to the left-center field was not only the first grand slam of Ellsbury’s career, but it was also the 100th of his very impressive major league career thus far.
The blast came off a 2-1 count against former Yankee left-hander Vidal Nuno, who served Ellsbury a 92 mph meatball right down the heart of the plate.
Unfortunately for the Yankees, Baltimore has had an easy time hitting the ball tonight as well which still leaves the Bombers down by three runs and hoping for a comeback.
With some baseball still being left to play tonight, it will be intriguing to see if the Yankees can use the long ball to their advantage some more and inch closer to making a historic comeback.
