Robert Gsellman‘s first-inning meltdown kickstarted another loss for the New York Mets, an 8-2 decision to the lowly Atlanta Braves.

At this point, there’s not much left to say. A team who lost six straight games who everybody widely considers to boast the worst personnel in all of baseball just walked into Citi Field on Wednesday night and beat the New York Mets senseless.
It started with Robert Gsellman who allowed five runs in the top of the first inning, a frame that lasted for more than a half-hour. It was an inning that killed the entire night, a game that once resembled hope after a two-day layoff.
All told, Gsellman allowed six runs and 10 hits over four innings of work.
The Atlanta Braves offense racked up 16 hits in total without one singular home run. Nick Markakis finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Freddie Freeman, Matt Kemp and three other Braves hitters collected two hits.
Braves starter Julio Teheran picked up his second win of the season. He allowed just two runs and four hits over 6.1 innings of work.
New York has now lost five consecutive games. They’ll look to Noah Syndergaard to play the role of stopper tomorrow afternoon against Atlanta.
