New York Knicks fans will enjoy the latest mock draft from ESPN expert Chad Ford where he has the team addressing a pressing need.

ESPN’s Chad Ford’s most recent mock draft, released this week, has the New York Knicks selecting a point guard. More specifically De’Aaron Fox out of Kentucky. This is particularly comforting after what the NBA Draft expert predicted in his last mock.

In Ford’s last time out the New York Knicks selection was surprising, to say the least. He had the team selecting Duke swingman Jayson Tatum at No. 6 with Fox still on the board. A couple of weeks and a tiebreaker loss later and Ford has changed his mind.

Ford has the Knicks taking Fox with the No. 7 pick, the most likely option after losing the tiebreaker, and lists their odds of winning the lottery at a paltry 5.3 percent.

Ford made these predictions “based on team needs and conversations with NBA scouts and general managers.”

Here’s his reasoning behind the Fox prediction and a quick scouting report:

The Knicks will take a close look at Fox, Smith and Frank Ntilikina if they’re all available. With Derrick Rose likely to leave the Knicks via free agency this summer, landing a young point guard to play next to Kristaps Porzingis looks like a strong option for New York.

Fox isn’t a great perimeter shooter, but he has every other attribute you want in point guard. If he ever gets a solid jumper, he could be a star.

After such an outstanding performance in the NCAA Tournament, there’s question as to whether Fox will be available with the seventh pick.

Other sites, like DraftExpress and NBADraft.net, have him going in the top five.
