New York Yankees PR is Doing the World a Favor and Teaching a Lesson

The New York Yankees have a lot of things going for them right now but their Public Relations team has hit marketing gold.

Throughout this young season for the New York Yankees, the spotlight has been on the Baby Bombers and their emergence in the major leagues.

Now we can thank Public Relations for their incredible portrayal of the Aaron Judge and Ronald Torreyes friendship. With everything exciting going on this season, this might just be the greatest (and most awesome) thing we’ve ever seen.

The Yankees, the YES Network and what seems to be the entire galaxy of baseball fans have been fawning over these two unlikely friends.

The Gentle Giant and the Little Engine that Could. The Judge and Toe Show. The real-life recreation of The Iron Giant.

Yeah, it’s that good. And we will be forever grateful for the PR team for sharing this friendship with the world.

It all started when Torreyes slugged a monster two-run home run to go up against Tampa Bay in the second game of the season, scoring Judge in the process.

One picture of the 5-foot-7 Torreyes high-fiving the 6-foot-7 Judge started a nationwide obsession with these two unlikely comrades. And while being listed at 5-foot-8, Torreyes actually admitted his true height to Brendan Kuty of NJ.com.

Then the Yankees took it a step further. They placed Torreyes, the backup shortstop, conveniently next to Judge and Dellin Betances (another giant) when announcing the Opening Day lineup.

Sorry @ronald_torreyes this wasn't my call ???

So, now all eyes are on Torreyes and Judge. Not just for their play but for the irony that comes with these two incredibly different teammates tearing it up in their own way.

It seems that wherever Judge goes, Torreyes follows and that creates a perfect photo, GIF or meme opportunities for the stars of the Yankees. And it is truly entertaining at every turn.

There’s no shortage (no pun intended) of evidence of their height-defying relationship but what is even better is that these two are some of the most productive players on the team so far.

Judge has slugged five home runs so far and the duo leads the team in RBIs (Judge with 12, Torreyes with 11). Talent has nothing to do with height and these two are proving that one game at a time. They are both invaluable, despite being a foot apart.

Since the duo has taken the field by storm, the PR office is taking this publicity and running with it. The message they are sending is refreshing with so many negative stories floating around in regards to poor player behavior and steroid usage.

The PR team is also sending the message that size doesn’t make an athlete. The effort that is put into the game is what makes someone an athlete, a role model.

You don’t have to be the biggest on the field, as Torreyes shows. You also don’t have to feel like you can’t be an athlete if you are bigger in stature, as Judge shows. The Yankees are sending out the right message in plastering these guys all over social media.

To the Yankees PR team, you have given us fans both a lesson to learn and a piece of entertainment. And for that, they deserve all the praise in the world.

Thank you to the Yankees for consistently trolling the height difference. More importantly, big thanks to Judge and Torreyes for providing us with endless photos for us to share a laugh with all generations.
