After winning eight in a row, the New York Yankees are looking to push that number to nine on Tuesday night against the White Sox.

The New York Yankees are heading into the middle game of a three-game set against the Chicago White Sox on a roll, firing on all cylinders.

New York enters play tonight winning eight consecutive ballgames and beginning the season undefeated at home with seven wins and no losses.

Tonight, manager Joe Girardi hands the ball to Luis Severino, who will be coming fresh off a start against Tampa Bay where he looked as sharp as he has been since 2015.

Last time around, Severino pitched seven solid innings against the Rays while only surrendering two earned runs and striking out 11 batters, a new career high.

The right-hander will be going up against a youthful White Sox lineup that has barely seen Severino on the mound before. No White Sock hitter has more than five career at-bats against Severino.

Opposing Severino will be White Sox veteran right-hander Miguel Gonzalez, who is coming off an outing where he found it unable to make it past the fifth inning.

On Saturday against the Indians, Gonzalez surrendered three earned runs on eight hits in just 4.2 innings pitched while throwing 101 pitches.

In eight career starts at Yankee Stadium, Gonzalez is 2-3 with a 5.08 ERA, allowing eight home runs in just 44.1 innings pitched.

Player To Watch:

Jacoby Ellsbury

New York Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury has been hitting very well as of late, which should only get better with him facing Miguel Gonzalez on Tuesday night.

In 26 career at-bats against Gonzalez, Ellsbury is currently batting .346 against him which is the best out of any other player in the Yankees lineup.

Expect Ellsbury to do big things tonight against a pitcher whom he has seen very well throughout his career.

This Day In Yankees History:

On this day in 1923, the New York Yankees opened Yankee Stadium with a 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox.

In front of a crowd of 72,000, baseball legend Babe Ruth launched the first home run of the new park which would then create the famous saying “The House That Ruth Built”.

Yankee Stadium became the first park in the major leagues which featured three decks, costing $2.5 million.
