According to ESPN’s Ian Begley and Ramona Shelburne, the New York Knicks have picked up their two-year option on Phil Jackson’s contract.

Less than 24 hours since the New York Knicks disappointing 2016-17 season wrapped up with a damaging win against the 76ers and the team is already making moves for the future. Your reaction will vary depending on how you feel about team president Phil Jackson.

Per Ian Begley and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, the Knicks picked up the two-year option for the final seasons on Jackson’s contract. Owner James Dolan vowed to stand by his president when he went on Michael Kay’s radio show, and the billionaire stuck to his word.

The option was put in place for both sides in case a lockout kicked in. Per ESPN, Jackson had no interest in working during a stoppage. With a new CBA in place that isn’t a problem.

According to ESPN, there was speculation that the final two years of Jackson’s contract were picked up “a while ago” despite the rumors of his potential departure.

For any fans who had dreams of the Zen Master finally taking his leave from New York, this is a rough day, but Jackson’s supporters are still out there still blindly cheering for their hero.
