Fans are still reeling after the New York Yankees Opening Day loss, but there’s far more to be focused on in the world of the Bombers.

The day after Opening Day is one for quiet reflection. New York Yankees, I hope you stopped to really think about what you did wrong on Sunday afternoon.

Discussed it? Good. Let’s hope tonight won’t be a repeat of Sunday’s fiasco. In the meantime, let’s talk about something of far more importance.

So the New York Mets finally have won something! Good for you! Yankees fans are not bitter, they just aren’t used to losing.

And it shouldn’t even matter, anyway. What matters is the wins at the end of the year. We can’t deny that the Mets are young, hot and interesting to fans. The Yankees are washed-up and boring.

For now.

The next few years are shaping up to be full of exciting youth that might bring some more of the spotlight back on the beloved franchise.

Even if fans like the Mets more, the Yankees-Tampa Bay Rays match-up on Sunday was declared the most-watched season opener in five years, as tweeted by the YES Network.

It’s amazing that so many people tuned in to watch Masahiro Tanaka get shelled and the Yankees offense completely disappoint. However, that could be a good thing for the upcoming season.

Maybe the popularity of the Yankees is on it’s way up once again. Well, I can guarantee that once the games are back on regularly, Yankees fans will be dying to watch the Baby Bombers develop into the game.

It has also been reported by the New York Times that the Yankees and the Mets might have to meet new requirements when it comes to protective netting in their stadiums.

A New York City Councilman is planning to start the process in making the netting addition mandatory due to the excess of injuries due to foul balls. You can read the full New York Times story here.

To end this morning’s Bomber Buzz, it’s time a have a little laugh at the expense of the Yankees.

Here’s to a better game today! Let’s go Yankees!
