Pat Mahomes finds himself as the hot draft prospect of the moment and the QB-starved New York Jets are always mentioned.

The quarterback whom most draft analysts have pegged as the fourth best the position has become one of the busiest prospects in the past few weeks. After the conclusion of the Texas Tech Pro-Day, Patrick Mahomes has met with a number of teams including the New York Jets and Giants.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Mahomes sat down with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday and has scheduled a workout with the Buffalo Bills next week. Mahomes as a first round pick has been gaining momentum, especially the last few weeks, as teams prepare contingency plans.

Mahomes, the son of a former relief pitcher for the New York Mets could end up competing for the Jets quarterback position. The Jets could trade back into the first round to make that selection. The arm talent is special, but not playing in a pro-style offense will have Mike Maccagnan playing roulette in a trade-up scenario.

The Jets continued their prospect tour by visiting with Washington cornerback, Kevin King. King, who is considered the second-best cornerback of the “Baby Legion of Boom,” has risen in draft mocks due to the injury of secondary-mate, Sidney Jones.

Jones who was slated to be a mid-first rounder, will fall back a round or two after suffering an Achilles injury during Washington’s pro-day. It’s unfortunate for the star cornerback who will spend the majority of the season rehabbing from the surgery to repair the injury.

It is expected that King, Jones and Budda Baker, the Huskies feared safety will all be drafted in the first two days of the draft. While King has the greatest chance to be selected on the opening night, it is Jones who may come to be the best pro of the three.

One safety who could find his way to New York via the sixth pick in the draft, is LSU Tiger, Jamal Adams. Adams, who has seen his stock rise after a great combine, will challenge Ohio State’s Malik Hooker for first safety off the board.

Alan Schecter of Fox Sports provides a good profile of the hard-hitting leader of an exceptional LSU defense. Adams would be a welcomed edition to the Jets defense, as his power, speed and size would enhance a defense that saw the departure of Darrelle Revis and an injury to March Gilchrist.

Lastly, esteemed ESPN writer, Rich Cimini penned a column detailing the importance of a bounce back season for a defensive end, Muhammad Wilkerson. Wilkerson who entered the 2016 season rehabbed from a broken fibula that ended his 2015 campaign, never regained the dominance he showed in 2015.

The 2015 season forced the hand of the Jets leadership and garnered Wilkerson a lucrative multi-year deal. To echo Cimini’s sentiments, another down season for Wilkerson could jeopardize a long-term relationship with the former Temple player.
