No one expected it, but it’s little utility man Ronald Torreyes smacked a no-doubter for the first New York Yankees home run of 2017.

Who had their money on Ronald Torreyes hitting the first home run of the 2017 New York Yankees season?

After hitting just one home run in 169 plate appearances last season, the 5-foot-10 Yankee utility man smacked his first home run of this season in just his third at-bat.

Torreyes took an 86 mph changeup up and over the plate from Tampa Bay Rays’ right-hander Jake Odorizzi and blasted a home run that left Tropicana Field in quite a hurry.

That home run puts Didi Gregorius‘ replacement on the list with Didi (2016) Brett Gardner (2015 and 2014) and Travis Hafner (2013) as hitters responsible for the first home run of the season for the Yankees over the last five years.

Sure, the home run was needed in order to help the Yankees quest for their first win of the year, but the best part was watching Torreyes trail the 6-foot-7 Aaron Judge as he rounded the bases. It’s just priceless:
