Elite Sports NY has the daily news on the New York Mets for April 3, including the Opening Day lineup and 25-man roster.
The Amazins’ will take on Julio Teheran and the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field at 1:10 p.m.
In a year where the Mets believe they can win the NL East, although it’s only game 1 of 162, every single divisional game is emphatically important.
On Sunday, Mets manager Terry Collins‘ opening day lineup was revealed to the public as follows:

The lineup’s construction doesn’t have any incredible revelations or surprises buried in it, as every player on this list was projected to get the start on Opening Day in ESNY’s Official Season Preview.
Each name on Collins’ sheet is more than capable of hitting over 15 home runs, as the Mets showed their penchant to produce significant power numbers in 2016, hitting 218 homers as a team, good for fifth in the majors.

Rafael Montero has made the Opening Day roster due to inflammation in Seth Lugo‘s elbow. Lugo will join Steven Matz on the disabled list to begin the season.
Many believe that Michael Conforto opening the season on the bench, as opposed to getting consistent at-bats in Triple-A, will hinder his development, but the Mets are poised to keep him as their fourth outfielder to begin the season. Outfielders Juan Lagares and Brandon Nimmo are starting the season on the disabled list themselves, creating the need for Conforto in Queens.
