New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony doesn’t appear to know what the future holds for him with his current team.

Are the New York Knicks better off without Carmelo Anthony? It’s a question that fans have pondered for awhile, but they might not have to for much longer.

The 11-time All-Star was vague with Al Iannazzone of Newsday when talking about his future.

Anthony has spoken before about seeing the “writing on the wall” with his team’s future. He referenced that phrase again on Monday, but wouldn’t elaborate on his meaning.

“I see the writing on the wall,” he said. “You don’t know what writing is on the wall, though, but I see what writing is on the wall.

“You know I’m not going to tell you that. You can’t reach.”

If you thought that the 14th-year veteran couldn’t get any vaguer, then you haven’t heard his comments regarding Scottie Pippen’s criticisms of Phil Jackson.

Pippen blaming Jackson for New York’s struggles was notable due to their history (they won six titles together in Chicago), but it also added fuel to the fire when Pippen said he felt bad for Anthony.

“I think in this situation everybody has an opinion,” Anthony said. “I’m just glad people speaking up, whether it’s good or bad, people are speaking up, having their own opinion, rather than me trying to convince or not convince people of the situation or what’s going on and I could just play basketball. Everybody else sees what’s going on so they’re going to have an opinion.”

Anthony has had trouble adjusting to the triangle offense installed by Jackson and forced onto head coach Jeff Hornacek.

The franchise player hasn’t played in the team’s last two games but plans to return in Tuesday’s contest against the Chicago Bulls.

Clearly, the exit meeting with Jackson has been on his mind.

“The chips will be on the table in that meeting,” Anthony said. “Honestly, I don’t know what to expect, but I got a good feeling. The chips will be on the table.”
