Derrick Rose’s season and maybe even his New York Knicks career seem to be over, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.
Rose has suffered the same injury twice in his NBA career. He first tore his meniscus ten games removed from returning to the Bulls after tearing his ACL in the 2012 NBA Playoffs.
In 2015, he re-aggravated the same meniscus injury and this year’s injury happened to Rose at the worst possible time, as he will be a free agent this offseason. The recovery time is expected to be 6-8 weeks.
The Knicks’ guard is averaging 18.0 PPG, the most he has scored since 2012, to go along with 4.4 APG and 3.8 RPG this season
It is unclear whether this is the same meniscus Rose has injured previously, but it is fair to question whether or not the former MVP’s time in the association is over.
