The New York Giants have lost defensive back Coty Sensabaugh to the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency.

Coty Sensabaugh will be leaving the New York Giants for the Pittsburgh Steelers on a two-year contract. The 28-year old cornerback was an in a season addition for Big Blue after being cut by the Los Angeles Rams three games into 2016.

His release from the Rams came as quite a surprise given the three-year, $15 million deal the team handed to him in the offseason. However, Sensabaugh just didn’t appear to be the same player he was in 2015, a year in which he posted career highs in tackles, interceptions and passes defended.

Though not an integral part of the Giants’ vaunted “New York Pass Defense” secondary, Sensabaugh was still a decent veteran depth piece. He totaled 15 tackles in 10 games played as a Giant last season, with career totals of 194 tackles, one sack, two interceptions and 23 passes defended over five seasons.

New York was reportedly in the mix to retain Sensabaugh’s services, with his final decision coming down to between them and Pittsburgh. With his departure it is likely the Giants will look to add more secondary help either via the draft or in free agency.
