Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout might be buying into the World Baseball Classic hype, expressing interest in participating in the future.

With the 2017 World Baseball Classic upon us being as exciting as ever, superstar outfielder Mike Trout has expressed interest in potentially participating in future editions of the tournament.

“I mean, definitely, in the future, for sure,” Trout told Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times when asked if this year’s games have increased his desire to play. “If I get the opportunity to do it again, I’ll probably do it.”

Team USA is made up of a very talented group of players this year, but they are still missing that one superstar presence in the form of a guy like Trout who could be able to push them over the hump.

“The U.S. has a great team. I was talking to some of the guys.” Trout added. “Obviously, they wanted me to be there, but like I said, it was just a personal decision, nothing more than that.”

The best the United States has ever finished in the tournament was in 2009 when the came in fourth place. These poor performances have mostly been due to the lack of the majority of the country’s stars wanting to play.

If Trout does decide to participate next time around, it could open the door for many other guys to follow in his steps. Seeing Trout put on the USA uniform could make other stars like Bryce Harper, Clayton Kershaw and Kris Bryant want to do the same.

He still has some time to make his final decision, considering the next tournament will not be until 2021. However, it could change the way the entire nation views the tournament if a player like Mike Trout decides to join in on the fun.
