It was a close game on both sides with two tired teams playing on the tail end of back-to-backs. Despite trailing 2-0 in the game, John Tavares and the New York Islanders managed to claw a point, then eventually two from the Carolina Hurricanes.

Ho-Sang, Can You See!
The New York Islanders were bruised, banged up but not beaten on Tuesday night.
Despite being down 2-0 early, the Islanders and Thomas Greiss never gave in. Greisser’s play was on point early, turning off several quality chances early that could have buried the Islanders once again.
The Islanders didn’t play particularly poorly, but rather the Hurricanes were very efficient in capitalizing on chances. It seemed that they were beaten to several loose pucks early on, and they paid for it a couple of times.
The Greiss is Right
Greiss played a key role in ensuring the Islanders stayed in the game early, making some insane saves on a couple of Jeff Skinner breakaways early.
Josh Ho-Sang started the rally for the Islanders late in the second period …
… and less than 30 seconds later, Jason Chimera followed suit.
It was like a new team was placed on the ice, and the Isles went from there. Tied 2-2, the Islanders shifted into another gear and it was a close game until the buzzer at the end of the third period.
Prior to overtime, it was a guessing game from fans wondering what the three-man combination would be to start off. Would Andrew Ladd see another shift with Calvin de Haan? Would Ho-Sang see a shift? He did, and it was paired with the captain, John Tavares.
Ho-Sang had a slick dish to the captain, who didn’t miss for the game winner. With that victory, the Islanders can begin to erase Monday night’s disaster from fans memory, and Josh Ho-Sang continues to prove why he belongs in the big league.
The Islanders will return home on Thursday to face the Winnipeg Jets.
