New York Knicks forward Kristaps Porzingis had nothing good to say about the triangle offense after his team’s loss to the Brooklyn Nets.
The New York Knicks are losing games but winning the future. Last night, The Knicks embarrassed themselves against the league worse team Brooklyn Nets. Brooklyn wins over New York put the Knicks 15 games under .500 (season low).
Bad losses like this will force extra information to come out to the media from the players. Kristaps Porzingis had a lot to say after the loss. Kristaps pointed fingers towards the organization.

“We’ve been switching things up because at any point of this season we [haven’t] played like we wanted to,” Porzingis said. “It was like, ‘maybe this will work, maybe this will work.’ So we’re kind of looking for stuff. Coaches, they obviously try to do the best job they can and [are] giving us as much as they can so we have the information. But we never really got it all together and were able to execute the way we should have. It’s been a lot of confusion.”
Recently, Derrick Rose was talking to the media about how he get his points off random baskets that were not a publicity stunt. Porzingis agreed with him last night.
Since the All-Star break, New York has been committed to running the triangle. President Phil Jackson ran an informal practice with the guards to teach more about the triangle.
However, since the second half of the season, the Knicks are 3–7. The triangle system is a failure.
The Knicks young player are learning through his second year in the NBA. Porzingis wanted to play as a team and figure things out as a team. Even after the ipractice, the confusion in the locker room is still there according to Porzingis.
“We never really got it all together and were able to execute the way we should have. It’s been a lot of confusion.”
The unicorn confesses that the offense is to much ISO ball.
“We’re really basic with what we do,” he said. “A lot of times it’s, especially one-on-one, whoever it is — myself, Carmelo [Anthony], Derrick [Rose], Courtney [Lee] — we try to make something happen, and that’s not how it’s supposed to be. It’s very random.”
New York is heading to the offseason and expecting to sign and draft new players, but the baggage will be a heavy load. What comes with playing with the Knicks now is learning how to run the triangle.
Particularly with the real coach running things from the front office. Jeff Hornacek should be allowed to run his offense, but Phil insists on calling the shots himself.
Carmelo Anthony said he don’t want to be a part of the team if they’re going to tank and rebuild.
Melo told Al Iannazzone of Newsday:
“I think it will be more on the front office,” Anthony told Newsday this week. “I have the power, but still I would talk to them. We would be in communication if they feel like they want to go in a different direction, they want to start rebuilding for the future. If they tell me they want to scrap this whole thing, yeah, I have to consider it.”
The Knicks has been a total mess since the beginning of the season. Between Phil vs. Melo, Derrick Rose going AWOL, and Brandon Jennings shooting off at the mouth we thought Porzingis was the one thing that’d be okay. Now, he’s even throwing shade.
New York is having a meltdown and only winning can solve the problem.
