Josh Ho-Sang tallied his first career NHL goal as the New York Islanders disposed of the Edmonton Oilers very easily on Tuesday night.

With terrific effort, the New York Islanders beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-1 on Tuesday night, a big win to get them to 4-2-1, with two more games on their longest road trip of the 2016-17 season.
The night belonged to Josh Ho-Sang who netted his first career goal. Ho-Sang also got his team’s first power play goal in the five games. His goal was the only real excitement to come out of the first period that gave both teams chances to take the lead.
A good defensive game was the theme tonight, a distinct turnaround from the Sunday night loss.
In the second period, the Oilers came out fighting and Zack Kassin tied the game within 2:58 into the period. The game remained tied 1-1 until Josh Bailey’s assisted Andres Lee’s 24th goal of the season. At this point in the game, the Islanders had started to take over the game and control it. One sour note was Shawn Prince went down and did not return to the game.
The third period remained mostly in Islanders control despite having to kill another Oilers Powerplay at 15:17. Thomas Hickey was charged two minutes with high-sticking. The Islanders killed it and the Oilers went 0-2 during their powerplay.
Continuing to help his team extend leads Andrew Ladd, one of the hottest Islanders right now, scored. His goal gave way to a 3-1 lead. Ladd’s 18th goal has come as a surprise for many considering how slow of a start he suffered through. Since coming back from sitting a few games, Ladd has performed much better and scored goals.
At just before the end of the third period, Anders Lee scored his second goal of the game and 25th of the year, tying his goal total last season. The Islanders went on to win and remain in a tight metropolitan division race.
Of course, they won’t win every game over the course of the last month. They just need to to keep playing tough on the road, a pattern that will test them while on this monstrous trip.
