With spring training underway, New York Mets slugger Yoenis Cespedes has wasted no time in showing off his unbelievable raw power.
New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes launched his first home run of the spring on Thursday against the Marlins in remarkable fashion, leaving many questioning if the ball has yet to land.
The Cuban slugger made contact on a fastball from Marlins left-hander Dan Straily and the rest is history. The ball traveled over the batter’s eye in straightaway center field, which left many jaws on the floor among spectators.
The last time a player was able to hit one out of First Data Field was back in 2015 when Mets captain David Wright accomplished the powerful feat.
Cespedes is coming fresh off an offseason where he signed a four-year/$110 million contract to remain a Met for years to come.
Hopefully for the boys from Flushing, the right-hander will carry over this power to Queens once again in 2017 and maybe even hit the apple a couple of times.
