Is Janoris Jenkins‘ Twitter posts a subtle hint he wants the New York Giants to bring back two key defensive players?
New York Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins may have a thought or two on who he wants to play with during 2017. The five-year pro posted a pair of photos on his Twitter account of himself along with two teammates who’s futures with New York are currently uncertain.The first post was of Jenkins and fellow defensive back Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, following DRC’s interception in the end zone against the Los Angeles Rams.

The caption “2017 NYPD” is a clear indicator Jenkins wants Rodgers-Cromartie back next season. Keeping together the vaunted “New York Pass Defense” from a year ago is something surely the entire Giants organization wants to do. However, there have been rumors that DRC and his large $9 million cap hit were a candidate to be cut or traded this offseason. Though it seems for now the Giants will retain Rodgers-Cromartie, the “Jack-Rabbit” clearly wanted to express his opinion on the matter.
The second post pictured Jenkins in pre-game warmups alongside impending Giants’ free agent defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins.

The photo comes with no caption, giving cause to speculation behind Jenkins’ motives for posting it. Given the fact it followed his post with Rodgers-Cromartie, there’s a strong likelihood it was indeed to show support for a Hankins return to Big Blue.
What is especially curious about these photos though is that Jenkins chose not to post one alongside another key impending Giants’ defensive free agent. Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul did not receive a cameo in a Jenkins post.
Perhaps JPP’s enormous contract demands (he’s reportedly seeking $15 million annually) may have rubbed his teammates the wrong way. After Jenkins went out of his way to show support for the retention of two of his teammates it hardly seems like an accidental omission.
