According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, the New York Knicks are discussing potential trades with the Timberwolves for Derrick Rose.

New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose played under current Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau with the Chicago Bulls for seven seasons. According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, the Knicks and Timberwolves are discussing the possibility of a reunion.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports that one of the potential deals was a point guard swap of Rose for Ricky Rubio. Windhorst also mentions a potential three-team deal involving the Detroit Pistons and their point guard Reggie Jackson.

Per Begley, Minnesota isn’t the only team to reach out to New York about Rose. The former MVP is on an expiring contract so if the Knicks aren’t going to pay him the max they have no incentive to keep him. The odds of Rose being somewhere else by the end of this week are increasing.

It’s unlikely that Carmelo Anthony will be moved before Feb. 23’s trade deadline, but the Knicks could have a new point guard down the home stretch of this disastrous season.
