NEXT: Will Tye's future cloudy after re-signing with Giants

The NFL free agency period will begin in three weeks, and the New York Giants will be looking to add pieces that will put them over the top in 2017.

The Giants cleared up $10 million in cap space last week by cutting Victor Cruz and Rashad Jennings. Now the Giants can go after free agents more aggressively with the added money they have.

Here are three free agents that can help the New York Giants:

1. Branden Albert: Left Tackle, Miami Dolphins

The Giants are in desperate need of a left tackle as Ereck Flowers regressed in his second season. Prior to the Miami Dolphins releasing Albert on Thursday, there were reports about a possibly trade between the Giants and Dolphins involving Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Albert.

Now that Albert is a free agent, the Giants can acquire him without giving up anything. Albert is a solid left tackle and although he’s 32 he still has at least two to three more solid seasons in him.

2. Eddie Lacy: Running Back, Green Bay Packers

There’s not many quality free agent running backs this year, but Eddie Lacy is the second best available behind Le’Veon Bell. Injuries limited Lacy to just five games last season, but when he played he was productive averaging 5.1 yards per carry. If he’s in shape, he can be a nice backup to Paul Perkins and can be a physical presence in the backfield.

3. Kevin Zeitler: Right Guard, Cincinnati Bengals

Right guard is another position the Giants need to upgrade and Kevin Zeitler is best available. Pro Football Focus has him ranked the ninth best available free agent.  He’ll turn 27 in March which fits right in with the Giants youth movement. Acquiring Zeitler will definitely improve the Giants 29th ranked rushing attack.
