The New York Yankees have reportedly signed veteran left-handed pitcher Jon Niese to a minor league contract, which is currently pending a physical.

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, veteran pitcher Jon Niese is currently taking a physical for the New York Yankees and if all is ok he will be signing a minor-league deal with the club.

If the deal does indeed go through, Niese will be joining the team at their spring training camp in Tampa, Florida. The Yankees will be considering the left-hander as both a member of the starting rotation as well as a bullpen asset.

Niese is very familiar with pitching New York, considering he has pitched in the city for the Mets each season since 2008 subtracting half a season with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2016.

The left-hander has a career 4.07 ERA, but is coming off arthroscopic surgery on his left knee which left teams a bit wary on giving him a shot.

This move could pay off big for the Yankees depending on how Niese performs in the spring, it definitely could not hurt them in any way.
