Hockey players rock the greatest hair you’ll find in any sport. Who has the best New York Rangers hockey hair?

Great hair and hockey go together like peanut butter and jelly. The day a hockey player is born he is genetically altered to grow out luscious locks. Every great hockey community has an incredible mom who can give each player the perfect salad to complement his skills. Hair is a statement: Both on and off the ice, hockey players’ hair tells stories about who they are and what they will become.

Looking good off the ice in hockey is important. Looking slick on the ice with a bucket on is even more important. A cardinal sign of great hockey flow results when the hair is no longer contained within a players helmet. Let the lettuce fly and prove you are a true hockey player.

We spend hours and hours discussing the New York Rangers current play, the trade deadline, and what is going to happen in the playoffs. Let’s not forget about what’s really important here: The players, their personalities, our relationships with the players and of course the hair.

I rate them in the end and urge you, the reader to join the discussion in the comments with your own ratings.

Here first, though, in no specific order, I present to you the New York Rangers Hockey Hair Team for 2017 …

Kevin Klein

Charles Manson or Zeus? Murderer or Greek god? I’m still not sure. You could see him on “Dateline” tomorrow or Google Greek gods and find him. Following suit with many other Rangers players, Klein has decided to go with the shaved sides/long top style. Sporting the buzz cut look for many years in while playing in Nashville and during his early years in New York, Kevin just didn’t fit in. A change had to be made. To complement his bright blue, alien-like eyes, he added the long blond hair that can be seen blowing in the wind on and off the ice. The beard is just an added bonus at this point.

Doesn’t get much better than Klein whipping the hair back after the fight in Calgary on February 5. Look at it work side to side as he skates towards the sin bin. What a beauty. Well-done Kleiner.

Mika Zibanejad

When Mika left Ottawa, he left some of his hair behind. Starting to play in New York, the center of the universe, Mika had to espouse a more New York look. He chopped off some of his old shoulder length hair, shaved the sides, and let the top flow on. To add even more flavor, it appears Mika might have added some fire highlights in there to accentuate the salad. Being that Mika is a DJ in his spare time, he must fit the bill on and off the ice. Great job with the transition, the ladies must love it.

Mats Zuccarello

Zuuuuuuuuuuuc. What doesn’t this guy do right? Am I right? Zucc has been sporting the classic hockey hair look for years. Luscious locks with perfect curls on that guys head. The flow ends about 1-2 inches before the trap muscles, simply perfect. The hair performs best underneath the bucket. On the ice Zuccarello’s hair simply will not be controlled by his helmet. It sneaks out the bottom, the ear holes, and on top. Anywhere there is a chance his hair is gone. Love it. Does the hair help him pick up chicks? You bet. Check out him and his girlfriend below. What a rocket. Jesus Zucc, you pull.

Henrik Lundqvist

The King of New York. Henrik. Hank. The King. Hair. My god. Are you serious with this guy? One of the best goalies in NHL history, great fashion, great persona, wonderful philanthropist and obviously, great hair. On the ice, his hair shines through the back of his goalie mask. The real performance is when Henrik rides the bench or the red carpet. What product does he use to keep that hair so perfect? I need to know. Does he have the greatest hair in hockey? Undoubtedly. Best hair in the world? Likely.

The man is just straight sexy and I’m not afraid to admit it. You shouldn’t be either. The King can do no wrong in New York, his hair is no different. It epitomizes the New York Rangers hockey hair. Hank’s hair is so great it was also featured in a shampoo commercial. Enjoy.

Antti Raanta

What is that on top of his head? Looks like a tornado mixed with a sand dune. Love the flow by Antti here. Goalies have to have character and what better way to show it then shaving the sides and letting the top hang out? On the ice, goaltenders wear a mask all game that hides the coiffure. Stay tuned from now on for post-game pressers to get a view of his slick locks.

Honorable Mention: Derek Stepan

Just kidding. Love you Step but that hair is atrocious and getting worse by the year. Time to shave it all and embrace the bald. Keep that helmet or a hat on at all times.

My greatest current New York Rangers hockey hair ranking is below:

  1. Klein
  2. Henrik
  3. Zucc
  4. Raanta
  5. Zibanejad
