New York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard reported to Port St. Lucie with 15 extra pounds of muscle, claiming he can “throw harder.”

Do you smell yet, folks? That’s right … it’s the smell of fresh cut grass and the sound of birds chirping.

Spring is just around the corner which means New York Mets baseball has almost arrived. The first sign of this came on Sunday, Feb. 12 when Mets pitchers and catchers reported to Port St. Lucie, Florida.

One of the names who made a splash on day one, and who always makes waves, was ace Noah Syndergaard. Thor, as his fans affectionately tab him, claimed to report in with 15 extra pounds of muscle and that he can “throw harder” (video above).

A season ago, Thor’s fastball registered at 97.9 mph, the hardest for any starting pitcher in the bigs. Second to Syndergaard was Carlos Martinez of the St. Louis Cardinals, coming in at 96.4.

If Thor can actually throw harder in 2017, watch out National League. You too, Bryce Harper.
