New York Giants OL Adam Gettis says Julio Jones, not Odell Beckham Jr., is the best receiver in the league.

There’s no doubt that Atlanta Falcons’ pass catcher Julio Jones is a special talent. The former number six overall pick earned his fourth Pro Bowl nod in 2016 and was an absolute force in the postseason for Atlanta.

Jones notched 19 catches for 334 yards and three touchdowns during the Falcons’ playoff run to Super Bowl LI. During the big game, had he not been upstaged by Julian Edelman’s circus catch later in the fourth quarter, Jones would have been responsible for the contest’s catch.

The incredible play apparently prompted New York Giants’ offensive lineman Adam Gettis to take to Twitter to express his feelings about Jones’ abilities.

Gettis’ teammate Odell Beckham Jr. certainly has his own argument for the title of best in the league. His choice to proclaim Julio the best is very interesting, knowing very well his co-worker in Big Blue is right in the midst of that discussion as well.

However, as mentioned earlier, while Jones soared in the postseason Beckham struggled in his first career playoff game this year (four catches for 28 yards on 12 targets).

It’s probably wise to not read too much into Gettis’ comments though and give him a pass on this one. The Super Bowl always creates a thrilling atmosphere, especially for the professionals that have lived and breathed the game all their lives.

Gettis likely just got caught up in the moment and didn’t fully consider the scope of his comments.

Plus, c’mon, it was an amazing catch.
