Here it is, the actual document that the New York Jets and Bill Parcells signed off on that allowed Bill Belichick to go to New England.

Unbelievable.

Not only do New York Jets fans have to deal with Super Bowl 51 — witnessing the New England Patriots and Tom Brady get to their seventh such game — they have to endure glancing at the actual document that started it all.

17 years ago, Bill Belichick spurned the Jets after just one day as the head coach. With Robert Kraft moving on from Pete Carroll and Jets ownership completely unstable (R.I.P. Leon Hess), Belichick wanted out of his contract.

Obviously, the Jets would first need to grant him that wish.

They did, and the actual document that granted Belichick his wish of moving on to New England can be seen above in a tweet by ESPN’s Darren Rovell (photo above).

It first surfaced through the account of WBZ CBS Pats beat reporter Levan Reid.

In any event, thanks a lot, fellas. This is exactly what Jets fans needed to see. There’s nothing like pouring salt into a deep and wide wound.
