In the wake of the upcoming Super Bowl LI, some Atlanta liquor stores are refusing to sell Samuel Adams Beer until after Super Bowl Sunday.

Athough the Super Bowl is still over a week away, fireworks have already erupted between the city of Atlanta and region of New England, and it has nothing to do with the Falcons or Patriots organizations.

A Gainesville, GA Exxon station has decided that they will not sell Samuel Adams Beer until the conclusion of the Super Bowl LI matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots.

According to Shalise Manza Young of Yahoo Sports, Exxon gas station owner Viral Chhadua made the decision to not sell the Boston-based product after reading a report in the Boston Globe that took shots at the Falcons.

Part of the article by Dan Shaughnessy read:

“Atlanta? Seriously? This will be like the Larry Bird Celtics winning two of their championships by beating the Houston Rockets instead of the Lakers. It’ll be like the Bruins beating the expansion St. Louis Blues to win the Stanley Cup. It’ll be like the Red Sox beating the Colorado Rockies to win the World Series.

“I know this makes us greedy, but it’s real. A Super Bowl vs. the Dallas Cowboys or New York Football Giants or Green Bay Packers would have had so many more layers of story lines and history. Even a rematch with Pete “the Poodle” Carroll and the Seahawks would have drummed up some extra interest.

“The Atlanta Falcons?

“Meh.”

Shaughnessy also added that although Atlanta is a nice place, “it is also a town with absolutely zero enthusiasm for professional sports.”

Two separate tweets by the Samuel Adams Official Twitter page seemed to do the trick and give New England an early win before the Patriots have even stepped foot in Houston for Super Bowl LI.

Sports have always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Born in Queens, New York, I took to the Mets and the Jets at a young age, and actually have a video of myself reciting the 1986 Mets 25-man roster at age 3. Covering New York Sports is a dream come true. After attending the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, I was able to fully realise my potential of turning my liking for sports into a career that I love.
