Philadelphia Flyers steal one against Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers (Highlights)

Though playing well for most of the game, Henrik Lundqvist‘s New York Rangers were robbed of two points by the Philadelphia Flyers.

There is good news even after glancing at the final score if you’re one who waves the pom-poms for the New York Rangers.

Henrik Lundqvist continued his solid play. The two goals he allowed were both of the scrummy variety (in front of his own net with his defense not taking out the man properly).

The other piece of good news is that New York actually outplayed the Philadelphia Flyers for most of the game. It was the home team who outshot the visitors 34 to 23 on the night. Only two third period goals, one from the pesky Wayne Simmonds on the power play and Jakub Voracek over three minutes later, one that actually found its way home off of Kevin Klein, saved Philly on this night.

In stopping all 34 shots he faced, it was Steve Mason who thwarted the Rangers attack. Multiple terrific scoring chances in the first two periods were stoned cold by Mason.

The Rangers finished 0-for-3 on the PP while Philly went 1-for-3.

This one stings, as it was a game the Flyers goalie stole out of the Manhattan air — especially considering this will be the last taste of hockey this club experiences until next week (NHL All-Star break now commences).

Only Ryan McDonagh will partake in this weekend’s All-Star Game before New York retakes the ice next Tuesday, Jan. 31, at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
