When LeBron James visited the Bay Area to take on the Golden State Warriors on Monday night, he sent a not-so-subtle message.
The Cleveland Cavaliers returned to the Oracle Arena on Monday Night. It was their first time back in the Bay area since winning the championship there in June.
It was not a pleasant return for the Cavaliers as they were blitz by the potent offense of the Golden State Warriors, losing 126-91.
This loss was the worst loss for a defending NBA champion since the Miami Heat loss to the Chicago Bulls in the 2006-07 season when the Heat lost by 42 points.
The Warriors fans were ecstatic at the site of their Warriors destroying the Cavaliers. The fans were also not shy at heckling “The King,” LeBron James.
Most likely, the fans were heckling him over the score. Or perhaps it was what they believed him flopping when he ran into Draymond Green.
Green received a flagrant foul on the play. He also mocked James laughing with the crowd acting like James did as he fell to the floor.
Whatever the heckling was about, James provided the perfect response.
He looked at the fans and pointed to his fingers, telling them that he has three rings. The message also reminds the fans of how he got his third ring (video above).
It reminded them of how the Warriors were the first team ever in NBA history to blow a 3-1 lead in the finals. Also, it had to bring back the difficult memories for them of watching James heroic performances against the Warriors in the finals.
This would include his game seven triple-double performance at the Oracle Arena, which secured his final’s MVP Award.
The Warriors fans certainly enjoyed seeing a 35-point victory and having the chance of heckling James, but in the end, it was James who had the last laugh reminding the fans of his greatness.
