Once again, the St. John’s Red Storm men’s basketball squad has been aggressive on the recruiting end, looking at guard Jahmal McMurray.

St. John’s continues to seek more talent for their future.

Along with a few others, the Red Storm have also been looking at South Florida transfer guard Jahmal McMurray.

McMurray is a 6-foot-0 guard who played for South Florida for a year and a half before leaving their campus. He is a high scorer who took 471 shots last season as a freshman and hit 35o percent from three-point range. McMurray has also drawn interest from Virginia Tech and Arizona State. He will visit both St. John’s and Virginia Tech this week.

St. John’s has a surplus of guards on their current roster in freshmen Marcus Lovett and Shamorie Ponds and sophomore Frederico Mussini. Malik Ellison and Justin Simon (redshirting) can also play the guard positions. Apparently, they are seeking more depth in it and McMurray will provide more of that.

Other than God, sports are my biggest love. My teams are the Mets, Knicks, NY Giants, NY Rangers and St Johns basketball (St. John's alumni). I especially love the Mets like crazy, more than any other team and seeing them win the World Series would be a dream come true and definitely the best sports moment. The Knicks are a close second. I also like to write, so combine that with my passion for sports equals a perfect scenario, I would love to do sports writing long term. If not that, then probably sports broadcasting, cause I love to talk sports as well. In addition to writing for ESNY, I'm also currently writing for Metsmerizedonline.
