Thursday night didn’t turn out to be the fun time the New York Islanders had hoped for. More painfully, it didn’t turn out to be the fantastic night it started out as.

Before Jonathan Toews‘s Chicago Blackhawks could blink, the Isles took a two-goal lead. Both Andrew Ladd and Casey Cizikas scored their fourth goals of the season.

Sadly, the fun times didn’t last. Richard Panik scored with just 6:13 remaining in the game that broke a 4-4 tie and propelled Chicago to its 19th victory of the season.

The other goal-scorers on the night for the Isles were Ryan Strome (3) and Anders Lee (9). Jaroslav Halak could only manage 27 saves on 32 total Blackhawk shots. Next up for New York will be a quick turnaround and a trip to Buffalo Friday night.
