New York Knicks boss man Phil Jackson recently admitted that he has smoked marijuana in the past when dealing with injuries.
I mean, come on now. We already knew this. The idea that Phil Jackson has used marijuana isn’t something that should shock anybody. The Zen Master has a certain persona that, well, lends itself to a little toking from time to time.
Not until recently has he admitted it.
While on We Need To Talk on CBS Sports Radio, and as per James Herbert of CBS Sports, Jackson admitted to using marijuana while recovering back surgery during his playing days.
Jax missed the entire 1969-70 NBA season with the New York Knicks due to spinal surgery and dealt with it with some THC help.
I was smoking marijuana during that period of time,” Jackson said. “I think it was a distraction for me as much as a pain reliever. But I never thought of it as ultimately a pain medication for that type of situation.”
He then spoke about the here and now revolving current NBA players:
“We have tried to stop [marijuana use] in the NBA. I don’t think we have been able to stop it. I think it still goes on and is still a part of the culture in the NBA. It is something that we either have to accommodate or figure out another way to deal with it.”
It’s just the latest chapter in the ongoing saga that is current marijuana use in professional sports.
