When the New York Jets and New England Patriots square off this Sunday, an infamous play will be on both of their minds.
Four years ago yesterday, New York Jets‘ QB Mark Sanchez got a great look at Brandon Moore’s behind, ultimately losing possession of the football (surprise) in a pivotal game against the New England Patriots.
Sanchez and the Jets were embarrassed in front of 79,000 fans at MetLife Stadium and millions of television viewers on the night of Thanksgiving, getting outscored 35-3 in the second quarter. They would go on to lose the football game, 49-19.
While Jets’ fans face-palmed, the rest of the NFL gained a priceless blooper to watch for the rest of time. Long story short, it was one of the more humiliating plays in league history.
Unfortunately for the Jets, whenever they have a Thanksgiving day, or weekend, matchup with the Patriots, that play will be one of the many thoughts on everyone’s minds.
This weekend is no different.
During Wednesday morning’s press conference, Patriots mastermind Bill Belichick was asked whether the team would analyze film of the butt fumble. Let’s just say he wasn’t too amused:
In typical Belichick fashion, he muttered something under his breath that everyone couldn’t quite make out.
It would come to the surprise of no one if the 8-2 Patriots trounced the lowly Jets this weekend, perhaps even coming close to the 49-19 domination that occurred on November 22, 2012.
