Sidney Crosby jumps New York Rangers’ Ryan McDonagh and gets two minutes (Video)

Yet again, during the New York Rangers-Pittsburgh Penguins game, the NHL proved that Sidney Crosby can get away with just about anything.

On Wednesday night, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby proved to the hockey world that the NHL will let him get away with just about anything.

And yet again, it happened against the New York Rangers.

In the first period with the Blueshirts currently holding a slim 1-0 lead, captain Ryan McDonagh took a boarding penalty as he hit Conor Sheary from behind. There’s no question this was a boarding penalty. McDonagh hit Sheary from behind.

At the same time, this wasn’t one of vicious intent. In fact, like Joe Micheletti pointed out on the broadcast, Sheary sold it by allowing his feet to go limp underneath him.

The aftermath featured Crosby completely jumping an unsuspecting McDonagh. Not only did he drop the gloves and hog tie him down, he started throwing punches (video above).

The result? Well, unfortunately, it didn’t turn out to be anything surprising. Yet again, the NHL allowed Crosby to get off scot-free by only penalizing him two minutes while McDonagh picked up an absurd five-minute major.

This, folks, is just another example of the real bias Gary Bettman and his henchmen showcase towards their crowned prince of hockey. The only time we ever see Crosby attempt to fight somebody is if he jumps the guy.

New York still leads 1-0 while the two teams rest during the first intermission.
