Jason Chimera Scores His First With The New York Islanders (Video)

New York Islanders first year veteran Jason Chimera has finally scored his first goal this season, coming on Monday night.

In a game against the Vancouver Canucks on Monday night, Jason Chimera banged in a loose puck in front of an empty net. It was his first of the season and it tied the game at one apiece.

At Last!

After 13 games of waiting for fans and players alike, Jason Chimera has scored his first goal in a New York Islanders uniform. After a nifty tip from Anders Lee which placed the puck right in front of the goal mouth, Chimera tipped in the loose puck past Ryan Miller to collect his first goal as a New York Islander.

Cue the collective sigh of relief coming from the Islanders forwards, staff, fans, and most importantly Chimera himself. The first goal is always the most crucial, and in some cases hardest to come by. Now that the pressure of finding the first has left more goals should come easier for Chimera.

The eyes of Isles fans now turn to Andrew Ladd, the other major asset acquired over the summer in free agency. Ladd has yet to score as well but with Chimera finding his first tonight let’s see if Ladd can follow suit.

The assists on Chimera’s goal come from Brock Nelson and Anders Lee.
