Against one of the best secondaries in the NFL, Ryan Fitzpatrick and the New York Jets stunk up the joint by losing to the Chiefs.

The thing has gotten Ryan Fitzpatrick in trouble over the course of his NFL career reared its ugly head again in Week 3 of the 2016 season.
The veteran has a gunslinger’s mentality without the gunslinger’s arm.
He feels he can fit any ball into any tight window. His confidence level is higher than his talent for throwing the ball. This led to a disaster of an offensive game at Arrowhead Stadium against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday and will usually happen against one of the best secondaries in the league.
K.C. handed the New York Jets their second loss of the season in a comfortable 24-3 victory.
Fitzpatrick was picked off a brutal six times in the game. The first coming in the first quarter with the two teams scoreless. Fitz looked to hit Jalin Marshall on a comeback around the 12-yard mark:

Eric Berry intercepted Fitzpatrick in the 3rd-quarter on a tipped ball in the endzone and Peters did it again on a tipped ball in the endzone midway through the final frame:

Fitzpatrick finished with just 188 yards and those ugly six interceptions on 20-of-44 passing. The duo of Berry and Marcus Peters spearheaded a K.C. coverage that was downright nasty. Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker, Quincy Enunwa, and the rest of the weaponry was virtually shut out. Most of it was due to not winning route battles. There was very little separation all game long.
Defensively, Alex Smith played his usually conservative game and managed it well. Tight end Travis Kelce enjoyed a hell of a game finishing with six grabs for 89 yards and a touchdown.

Mistakes, poor play and lack of execution were plentiful for Gang Green in Week 3. It’ll be back to the drawing board as the 1-2 Jets get ready to host the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday.
Game Notes:
The Chiefs run defense, who was ranked No. 30 coming into the game, limited Matt Forte to just 65 yards on 15 carries.
Spencer Ware went for 72 yards on 17 carries and Alex Smith passed for 237 yards with relative ease on underneath stuff all afternoon long.
New York turned the ball over eight times in the game to K.C.’s one.
After racking up more than 400 yards of offense in Orchard Park last week, the Jets offense finished with a cool 269. The Chiefs only had 296 yards on the afternoon but didn’t have to force the issue with Gang Green shooting themselves in the foot time and again.
The Chiefs three touchdowns were scored on offense, special teams, and defense (a Derrick Johnson pick-6 late in the game).
The Jets coaching staff was severely outmatched by Andy Reid and company. The gameplan and overall execution was awful.
