New York Giants’ running back Shane Vereen will miss the remainder of the season following tricep surgery.

New York Giants’ running back Shane Vereen will be lost for the rest of the 2016 NFL season following a tricep injury that will require surgery.

The multi talented running back had put forth an up and down start to the season prior to his injury. Vereen had averaged 4.7 yards on 31 carries for 147 yards and one touchdown. He also added eight catches for 75 yards, but had also lost two fumbles through the season’s first three games.

With Vereen gone, former undrafted free agent Orleans Darkwa will see a largely increased role as the team’s number two back.

If starter Rashad Jennings continues to miss time with his injury, New York is expected to use a three back committee approach with Drakwa, Bobby Rainey and rookie Paul Perkins.

This will certainly hurt Eli Manning and the passing game moving forward.
