New York Knicks' Derrick Rose: 'Chicago's Love Not On NY's Level'

New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose pumps up the Big Apple’s culture for basketball while smashing Chicago’s all at the same time.

Ladies and gentlemen, shots have officially been fired.

The newest New York Knicks point guard, Derrick Rose, has had himself quite the offseason. Not only does he have to deal with his new surroundings, but he’s smack dab in the middle of a civil case accusing him of sexual abuse.

On Wednesday, Rose had some words that certainly did not go unnoticed. When discussing how he was received by New York, D-Rose responded in a very favorable way to the Big Apple, via Jared Zwerling of the NBAPA:

I was feeling a lot of love. You feel that a little bit in Chicago, but it’s not on that level of New York, so it kind of makes you anxious to actually get on the court. It’s, like, ‘Man, they’re excited that I’m actually there.’ I haven’t even picked up a ball yet, I haven’t made a basket yet, and I can only imagine how they’re going to act when we start winning.

He continued to stress how phenomenal his new fanbase has been:

It’s a basketball culture there that’s missing. Our job is to bring that excitement back to the city. And it’s different playing there than actually being on the team, like the crowd there oohs and aahs for the little moves that you do when you’re on the opposing team. But when you’re on their team, they ooh and aah with everything. So I’m waiting for that excitement and just trying to be patient for it, because it’s going to be an exciting year I think for the whole city.

Rose could have easily just mentioned New York and gone on with his life. Instead, he chose to bash Chicago at the same time.

Chicago natives, especially those who supported Michael Jordan and the ’90s squads, will certainly not take these words too kindly.

Like previously mentioned, shots have been fired.
