Needing a run in the worst way, Curtis Granderson smacked a solo home in the bottom of the 11th to tie the game for his New York Mets.
In the top of the 11th-inning at Citi Field on Saturday night, the paying customers witnessed Minnesota Twins highly-touted prospect Byron Buxton smash a solo shot off Hansel Robles to give the Twinkies a 2-1 lead.
All was dead. Or, at least, we thought.
Curtis Granderson smacked his 27th home run of the season in the bottom of the 11th-inning to amazingly tie the game up for the New York Mets (video above).
As shocking as it was, the most shocking part is that the shot was to the opposite field, something Grandy rarely does.
Though youngsters Brandon Nimmo, T.J. Rivera and Kevin Plawecki put a good foot forward after Grandy, the rally was stopped short as Jose Reyes was caught looking with the bases loaded.
The two teams play on into the 12th.
