New York Mets' Hot Hitting Continues In 4-Game Sweep Of Phillies A little over a month ago, the Mets put out a lineup that many described as embarrassing. A lineup that showed their fourth and fifth spot in the lineup garnering below .200 hitters. Wow, have things changed since.

The addition of Yoenis Cespedes has been one of the better mid-season acquisitions in recent memory, and health has finally seemed to go their way. The turn-around has been so monumental, that they actually set a club record for home runs (42) in a month, still with four games left in August.

Not only have they set a club record for home runs in a month, but they also set a major league record with their historic monday night. Hitters 1-7 all homered in a monday night massacre of Philadelphia. A performance that also set a Mets club record for home runs in a game (8).

The Mets also welcomed back the captain, David Wright, to the lineup. Oh yeah, and in his first at-bat, he played longball. A moon-shot, that landed in the second-deck in left field.

In a wild extra inning affair, the Mets complete the sweep with a 9-5 win in 13 innings. This keeps them 6.5 games ahead of the Washington Nationals for first place in the N.L. East, after Washington won 4-2 over the San Diego Padres earlier in the night. The Mets play a three-game set this weekend at home against the Boston Red Sox. Matt Harvey takes the hill for New York tomorrow night.
