The New York Rangers inked free agent center Andrew Desjardins to a Professional Try Out this morning.

According to reports, the New York Rangers have signed forward Andrew Desjardins to a Professional Try Out Agreement.

Desjardins, now 31, is a journeyman center who has bounced around the league as a bottom six forward. Desjardins had a career-best of 17 points with the San Jose Sharks when suiting up the full season in 2011-2012 and in 2013-2014.

Most recently with the Chicago Blackhawks, Desjardins will most certainly add a nice element to the bottom six with his gritty play and penalty killing acumen. Even as a career bottom six player, his possession numbers have been impressive, as he logs close to 50% Corsi. A low-risk high reward play by the Rangers, this could be good competition to watch come Training Camp, as Lias Andersson, Cristoval Nieves, and Desjardins could compete for a spot on the big club.
