New Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler had some encouragement to make a return to the NFL from his wife, Kristin Cavallari.

The Miami Dolphins announced the signing of new quarterback Jay Cutler on Monday to a one-year, $10 million contract. It ended Cutler’s short retirement, and he returned to the NFL.

Among the nuggets of information that came out during his introductory press conference, one that was particularly interesting included Cutler’s wife – Kristin Cavallari.

The 34-year-old signal-caller told reporters that his wife encouraged him to stop transitioning into his broadcasting career at Fox Sports and return to the NFL. Per Bleacher Report, Cutler joked “she got tired of me being around the house.”

The former Chicago Bear was Miami’s choice over controversial free agent Colin Kaepernick. An uproar stirred among the TV experts about the obvious prospect of Kaepernick being blackballed by NFL general managers and owners.

Although, Cutler seems like a better fit in Miami. He played for head coach Adam Gase for a season in 2015 when Gase was the offensive coordinator in Chicago. The typically inconsistent Cutler had the best season of his career.

All that’s left is to see how Cutler’s decision will pay off in Miami. The first preseason game for the Dolphins is on Thursday and the regular season kicks off just a little over a month from now on Sept. 10.
