New York Jets Make Richard Sherman's Worst QB List

Don’t worry, Colin Kaepernick, there are quarterbacks in the NFL who are worse than you, and they might be on the New York Jets.

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman came to former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s defense recently.

In the process of defending Kaepernick, Sherman also completely trashed the New York Jets.

Oh well, just another day of being a New York Jet, right?

Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the 49ers in March and is still a free agent. Sherman was recently asked by a reporter about his thoughts on the unemployed quarterback in a press conference. The cornerback than stated that Kaepernick might not be the best quarterback out there, but he’s better than a lot of the quarterbacks that are starting.

“What is it about?” Sherman told Jarrett Bell of USA Today. “It’s not about football or color. It’s about, ‘Boy, stay in your place.’ He played in Chip (Kelly)’s system last year and went 16-4 (TD-to-INT ratio) on a bad team. He played well because he’s a good football player. He may not be the best, but he’s better than a lot of these dudes starting.”

The Seahawks cornerback then listed every quarterback who is worse than Kaepernick, making sure to call out the strugging Jets.

“But Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mallett or whoever is playing for the Jets right now – whoever is starting for the Jets is terrible – have jobs,” Sherman told Bell. “You’re telling me fans would rather you lose and put a worse player out there because a guy took a stand?”

Too bad neither of those guys start for the Jets. But, hey, the sentiment is still there.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is another quarterback that Sherman mentioned to USA Today as being worse. The Baltimore Ravens are a team that’s interested in the free-agent quarterback but owner Steve Bisciotti has been resistant. Since he also blasted their back-up quarterback, Ryan Mallett, it’s hard not to see why.

“We do want to win games, and I’m not sure [Kaepernick] is going to help us do that. We’re monitoring Joe. We’ve talked to Joe about it. We’re monitoring Mallett and keeping our door open. We’ve talked about RG3 [Robert Griffin III] and bringing him in for a workout,” Bisciotti said in confidence to ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

Kaep you may not have a job right now but at least you’re not the worst quarterback in the league. Even better, according to Sherman, at least you’re not on the Jets.
