According to ESPN, the New York Knicks paused trade talks regarding Carmelo Anthony to the Houston Rockets or Cleveland Cavaliers.

Just when you thought Carmelo Anthony was on the way out, the New York Knicks throw you another curveball.

In the wake of the reported hire of new general manager Scott Perry, there’s some big news on the Anthony front.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne, the Knicks have paused trade talks regarding their superstar scorer.

Per ESPN, the Knicks even want to try and convince him to come back. That seems like a tall order after everything that happened under Phil Jackson.

Anthony to the Rockets seemed like a done deal, so this is a pretty shocking development. Even for the Knicks.

This can’t be making Carmelo Anthony happy. He had already gotten used to the idea of playing in Houston with James Harden and Chris Paul. Even a reunion with Mike D’Antoni didn’t scare him off.

Maybe new general manager Scott Perry is already influencing the Knicks front office. He doesn’t think dealing Anthony away so easily is a good idea.

This could also be just a temporary thing. It doesn’t mean Anthony won’t be moved at a later date.

Right now, it seems like the only hold up is money. More specifically the Ryan Anderson contract.
