With the 57th pick of the 2017 NBA Draft, the Brooklyn Nets select, Aleksandar Vezenkov

The NBA Draft came and went, and was as chaotic as expected. Sean Marks and Kenny Atkinson are putting together something special in Brooklyn, and it starts with last night’s draft picks.

With their second round pick, the Nets selected Aleksandar Vezenkov of FC Barcelona, where he will continue to play. A solid stretch four, this kid is a shooter. Through thirty-five games in the Spanish League, he averaged 8.7 points and 3.1 rebounds, while shooting 35 percent from three, and 69.4 from the mid-range.

For the Nets, Vezenkov is a draft and stash. At 6-foot-9 and 225 pounds, he certainly has the size to compete in the NBA.

Draft Express, however, noted his best skills lie in his IQ:

“He’s not particularly quick, nor explosive, relying on his tremendous scoring instincts, basketball IQ and competitiveness to find productivity, rather than on his physical tools.”

For the Brooklyn Nets, too many shooters would be a good problem to have. However, until they’ll feel the need to add some more young firepower to the bench offense, Vezenkov will remain in Spain.
