The New York Knicks are reportedly interested in bringing former player Pablo Prigioni back into the fold as an assistant coach.
Pablo Prigioni wants to coach. More specifically, the New York Knicks are interested in bringing Prigioni in as an assistant.
According to Gigantes, Prigioni’s ready to start his new career as a head coach. There’s no better place in the NBA than the one where he started his career.
Prigioni debuted with the Knicks in 2012-13 as a 35-year-old rookie from Argentina. Nobody knew what to expect, and he quickly became a fan favorite in his two and a half seasons in The Big Apple.
Unselfish play and a high-energy style became Prigioni’s trademark that helped him last in the Association despite his defensive shortcomings. He was eventually traded to Houston and finished his career with the Clippers.
Prigioni was a coach at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, so this isn’t a surprise. Point guards want to coach and Prigioni always felt like a coach on the floor. He’d probably make a pretty good one.
It’s been awhile since Prigioni left New York. The only faces he’d recognize are Lance Thomas and Carmelo Anthony.
