New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony does not seem to be in Phil Jackson‘s plans going forward.

Phil Jackson has made it clear in the past. He wants Carmelo Anthony to leave the New York Knicks. He reaffirmed those beliefs this Friday.

In a rare media appearance at the NBA Combine, Jackson spoke to reporters about Kristaps Porzingis, the NBA Draft, and most notably, Carmelo Anthony.

Jackson, according to Nick Friedell of ESPN, still believes Carmelo Anthony should be playing basketball in a new jersey next season.

The Knicks President stated, “We’d just like him to have success somewhere. We’re not going to be there. Hopefully, we’ll be maybe a playoff team next year. It would be tough to consider us a possible champion.”

Jackson made similar comments last month.

Some may see this as Jackson looking out for Anthony. However, with the history the two share, it is likely Jackson is only looking to have Anthony waive his no-trade clause to not have to deal with Anthony any longer.
