New York City FC will look to earn another strong result at Yankee Stadium this Sunday after they fought back to claim a victory at Columbus.

New York City Football Club will seek a return to winning ways at home as they take on MLS expansion side Atlanta United on Sunday afternoon.

Patrick Vieira’s side responded to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to Orlando, which ended NYCFC’s unbeaten home record this season, with an impressive 3-2 victory at the Columbus Crew as they battled back from a 2-1 deficit to claim all three points.

The manager was pleased with his side’s mentality throughout their previous match.

“The second half in Columbus really pleased me because we were brave, we pressed them really high,” Vieira said.

The New York side find themselves two points ahead of Atlanta, in fourth place, but a victory on Sunday could increase the gap to five points. They will fall a point behind Gerardo Martino’s men should they suffer a defeat.

Atlanta have impressed since their debut match this season, and Patrick Viera feels that the encounter between the two clubs will be difficult for the home side.

“When you look at Atlanta, with the individual talents they have, we’re expecting a difficult game,” said Viera.

Sunday’s match will see David Villa return to the side after he missed last weekend’s clash due to illness. The star forward recently extended his current contract until the end of the 2018 MLS season.
