Charles Oakley: Carmelo Anthony ‘Needs to Get Out of New York’ (Video)

Charles Oakley told TMZ Sports that it’s time for Carmelo Anthony to get out of New York and away from the dysfunctional Knicks.

If Phil Jackson was looking for an ally in his effort to encourage Carmelo Anthony to leave the New York Knicks, he seems to have found one in Charles Oakley.

Oakley told TMZ Sports he thinks Anthony “needs to get out of New York” and mentioned the Oklahoma City Thunder or Los Angeles Clippers as possible destinations.

MVP candidate Russell Westbrook could use the help in OKC and Melo’s buddy Chris Paul would welcome any help in L.A (if he re-signs this summer as a free agent).

The 53-year-old made a good point when he said that Anthony deserves better. No matter how you feel about Melo, you need to agree that no superstar deserves to be treated like this.

Oakley provides Anthony with some pretty sound advice, but it’s also important to note that his view of the franchise is somewhat jaded. Anyone would be bitter after that.

No one knows the inner workings of the franchise’s dysfunction as well as Oakley. Who can blame him for telling the truth here?
