With the sixth pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Mike Maccagnan and the New York Jets select LSU safety Jamal Adams

Finally, we know what the New York Jets did during the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

They selected, arguably, the best defensive player in the entire pool, LSU safety Jamal Adams.

Rumors about Mike Maccagnan and the Jets falling in love with North Carolina’s Mitchell Trubisky were suddenly void after the Chicago Bears stunned the world and traded up into the second hole to select the top QB in the draft. The Tennessee Titans, one pick before them at five, also stunned many by selecting WR Corey Davis.

Amazingly, both big time safeties, Malik Hooker and Jamal Adams and tight end O.J. Howard were all available to New York.

Clemson’s Deshaun Watson was available for the Jets at six, but the held firm and remained disciplined in selecting Adams.

In 36 games in college, Adams racked up 128 tackles, two sacks and five interceptions.
